  • Who can attend the Annual Meeting?

    The ACNP Annual Meeting is a closed meeting, meaning that only ACNP members and their invited guests may attend.

  • Is there an age requirement to attend the Annual Meeting?

    Scientific guests attending the ACNP Annual Meeting must be 21 years of age or older to attend the meeting in person.

  • Are CME and CE credits available?

    Attendees will be eligible to receive the credit hours for attending the 63rd ACNP Annual Meeting, December 8-11, 2024.

    There will be a $40.00 charge for scientific registrants to obtain CME credits. CME instructions will be available on the ACNP website (www.acnp.org) in December.

Invitation FAQ

  • How do I invite a guest?

    The College has reached the limit of 400 member guest invitations for the 2024 Annual Meeting.

    If you are using your ACNP Member guest invitation, the quickest and most efficient way to invite a guest to the Annual Meeting is to include your invited guest information when registering for the meeting.

    Additionally, ACNP has an online process for requesting guest invitations, which began in 2020. Requests for guest and bank invitations should be made through the online portal in lieu of emailing the executive office. To request a guest invitation, please login to the Annual Meeting Submission Site . Once you login, please choose the “Access My Dashboard” option on the Submissions page, which should open for you once you are logged in. On your dashboard, please choose the option to “Submit ACNP Invitation Request.”

    Scientific guests attending the ACNP Annual Meeting must be 21 years of age or older to attend the meeting in person.

    Invitation requests must be submitted by August 26th in order to ensure your guest has ample time to register and submit a poster prior to the poster deadline.

    NEW IN 2024:  Member invited guest invitations will be limited to 400. Please review the requirements for the Diversity Invitation Bank and utilize the bank in lieu of your member invitation, when applicable. 

  • How do I obtain an invitation as a non-member?

    Non-members must have an ACNP Member, Fellow, or Emeritus, who themselves are attending the Annual Meeting, invite them. Members, including Associate Members, can also request an invitation from the invitation banks.  To see a listing of current ACNP members, click here.

  • Can corporate representatives invite someone to attend the Annual Meeting?

    No, Corporate Representatives are not permitted to invite scientific guests or Trainees.

     

  • As a member of ACNP, how many invitations may I request?

    Members, Fellows, and Emeritus may request one member guest invitation, one invitation from the General Invitation Bank,  and multiple invitations from the Invitation Bank for Scientists from Disadvantaged Backgrounds.

  • Does an invitation to the Annual Meeting include poster sponsorship?

    Yes, the guest invitations and bank invitations are inclusive of the poster sponsorship. All attendees must register for the Annual Meeting prior to submitting a poster proposal. The poster submission deadline is August 28, 2025 at 5:00 pm Central.

    Invitation requests must be submitted by August 26th in order to ensure your guest has ample time to register and submit a poster prior to the poster deadline.

  • What is a Trainee?

    A trainee is a person in a training position & not a full time, permanent position. A trainee can be a M.D., Ph.D., Post-doctoral fellow, Resident, Graduate Student or Research Fellow. Trainees have all the rights and privileges of invited guests. Trainees must receive an invitation in order to register for the Annual Meeting.

  • What are the invitation banks?

    Invitation Banks

    The ACNP offers scientists without an invitation the opportunity to attend the annual meeting through our Annual Meeting Invitation Banks. An ACNP member (including Associate Members) must request the invitation for you through one of the following banks:

    General Invitation Bank: ACNP offers up to 100 invitations, accessible only by members, for scientists who are within 10 years of their last training or someone with a first time R award or K award. (Members can request only one invitation from this bank. Once the cap of 100 invitations has been reached, no additional invitations can be extended using the General Invitation Bank.  The 2024 General Invitation Bank has reached the cap of 100 invitations and is now closed. 

    Invitation Bank for Scientists from Disadvantaged Backgrounds: ACNP offers an unlimited number of invitations, accessible only by members, for scientists from disadvantaged backgrounds. Members who request the invitation will need to verify that the scientist is considered from a disadvantaged background per the criteria below:

    ACNP defines an individual to be considered from a disadvantaged background if they meet two or more of the following criteria:

    • Were or currently are homeless.
    • Were or currently are in the foster care system.
    • Were eligible for the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program for two or more years
    • Have/had no parents or legal guardians who completed a bachelor’s degree
    • Were or currently are eligible for Federal Pell grants
    • Received support from the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) as a parent or child
    • Grew up in a rural area or in a low- or middle-income country.
    • Have/had significant social or physical challenges
    • *International Scientists Only* Were considered from a disadvantaged background from your country (if reside outside the U.S.).

    ACNP will make every effort to keep this information private but cannot guarantee this information would not be unintentionally released within the College. 

    PLEASE NOTE: 

    • Only members attending the meeting may request an invitation from the invitation banks. 
    • Any registered guest with an invitation from the invitation banks may present a poster at the meeting if submitted by the deadline and accepted by the ACNP Program Committee.  
    • Requests for invitation bank invitations should be submitted through the Invitation Request system in the Annual Meeting Submission Site

Registration & Hotel FAQ

  • When does registration open?

    Registration for the January 2026 Annual Meeting will open in June 2025.

  • How can I register?

    Members and non-members should complete registration online. Non-members must have an invitation from an ACNP member prior to registering. Invitation FAQ’s are in the second section on this page. Registration will open in June 2025.

  • Can I register onsite?

    No. Onsite registration is not permitted at the Annual Meeting. All attendees must register online prior to arrival at the Meeting.

  • What does the registration fee include?

    Admission to posters sessions, networking events, online abstracts, as well as access to all scientific sessions. Please click here for additional information on in-person food and beverage information. January 2026 Annual Meeting information will be updated soon.

  • Do I have to be registered before I can get a hotel room?

    Yes. All meeting attendees, including members, must register for the meeting in order to obtain hotel information.  The link to reserve hotel accommodations will be sent in the registration confirmation email. Hotel reservations must be made online using the link provided. Reservations made with the hotel directly or through other online outlets will not receive the ACNP negotiated room rates.

    *Please reserve your accommodations as early as possible, as the group rate sells out fast.

  • I am a member of ACNP, do my dues have to be paid before I can register?

    Yes, membership dues must be paid prior to registration.

  • What is an Accompanying Person?

    A spouse, relative, or significant other who accompanies an attendee. An Accompanying Person may only attend the social functions of the meeting, which includes the morning breaks, lunches and receptions. All accompanying persons must be included in the paid registration in order to attend the social functions.  The only scientific session open to the accompanying persons are the Poster sessions.

  • What is a Trainee?

  • What is the cancellation and registration change policy?

    Cancellation and Registration Changes Policy – The deadline to cancel or make changes to your registration type is December 15, 2025.

    • Meeting registration fees will be refunded (less $30 processing fee) if the Executive Office receives written notice of the cancellation to acnp@acnp.org by December 15, 2025.  No refunds will be issued for cancellations requested after December 15th.  
    • Change of registration type:
      • Virtual to in-person can be made online. Click here for detailed instructions.
      • In-person to virtual must be requested in writing to acnp@acnp.org.
      • All changes to registration type (virtual to in-person and vice versa) must be made by December 15th.
      • Requests to change from in-person to virtual after December 15th will not receive a refund of the difference in fees.

Abstracts, Presentation, & Publication FAQ

  • How many panels can a speaker be on?

    No person can serve more than 2 roles on submitted panels/mini panel/study groups with a maximum of 1 speaking role (panel/mini panel presenter or study group participant). These role limits do include study groups.

    ANNUAL MEETING SUBMISSIONS

  • Does ACNP accept encore presentations?

    Original data is preferred. If the abstract is accepted for presentation but has been previously published, it will not be published in ACNP’s journal Neuropsychopharmacology. However, encore presentations can be submitted.

    ACNP does not accept late-breaking abstracts for the annual meeting; however, information on Promising Targets submissions can be found here.

  • Are abstracts published and citable?

    Beginning with the 2010 Annual Meeting, abstracts will be published online only, and available for citation once published, on the Neuropsychopharmacology website from Nature.  Abstracts from 2007-2009 are non-archival.

  • Abstract Submission Copyright

    All materials submitted for presentation at the Annual Meeting will be published in Neuropsychopharmacology and should be original and not previously published. Following publication authors may reuse their work with the sole requirements of full citation and link to the original publication online.

  • What is the embargo policy for presentations?

    Any press release issued by a presenter, the presenter’s employer, or any other outside person or entity about a presentation scheduled for the ACNP Annual Meeting must be embargoed until the time and date of the presentation and should be clear that it is not sanctioned by ACNP.  This includes any detail of the abstract and the title.
