In A, densely packed neurons reminiscent of zona compacta are seen, whereas in B the smaller, more oval neurons of the ventral tegmental area (A10) are illustrated. Panel C represents the more dorsally and caudally placed neurons of the retrorubal group (A8), while panel D illustrates dendritic bundles ventral to the zona compacta. |
